Story Time: Eagle Dream Lodge, realization of a dream project

Sally-Ann, the owner of the Eagle Dream Lodge (our Bedouin Tent), wrote a little story for us about the realization of her dream. We love her vision and passion in life so we asked her to write something about her Xperience with us and how she came up with this beautiful idea. Sally-Ann Intuition, a deep sense of knowing, a feeling, a core wisdom, call it what you like – I had it when I first came across this unique property I am about to tell you about. I have named her Eagle Dream Lodge, knowing that this would be a place of [...]

Greetings from our test team (Glamping Victoria)

Luxury Glamping Victoria? Our test team put it to the test and recently went glamping on Phillip Island. And they were so excited, that they wanted to blog about it. But before you read this, keep in mind that our test team's first language is Dutch. We didn't want to correct the text since it has a lot of character and it didn't feel right to "alter" their story. Roméé Hi, I’m Romee from the test team. We went a few weeks ago to Phillip Island. At the beginning, we had to drive almost 1,5 hour. During the trip, I [...]

A first look at the Glamtainer

Introducing the newest product range from GlamXperience- the Glamtainer. This really is an ‘out of the box’ approach to shipping container conversions and I’m absolutely in love with them! Here’s why… I’ve heard people refer to shipping container conversion as the ugly industrial brother of the man cave. It's strong, durable. They’re all practicality and no style and inherently posses an aroma of modern day international trade. You just have to drive past a shipping port to know what I mean. Its these characteristics that have left councils across Australia spinning about their use as a storage shed in the [...]

What is Glamping?

Glamping "Glamping is a portmanteau of glamour and camping and describes a style of camping with amenities and, in some cases, resort-style services not usually associated with "traditional" camping" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glamping. The trend Glamping was born in 2005 in the UK, and is a fusion of glamorous & camping. Outdoor Experience without sacrificing luxury There have been many camping trends in the past years, but this trend really sticks around. Glamping tourism sites are rising all over the world. Whether it's a Safari tent, Bedouin tent, Glamtainer, tipi or treehouse, glamping is a way to experience the great outdoors without sacrificing luxury. [...]

Press: Interview in the Age

"Europe's style now in Australia". Our interview and advertisement in the Age from Sunday the 30th of October.   Europe's  style now  in Australia  Luxury tent stays allow  people to connect with nature at unique sites - without  sacrificing comfort. Germany, the Netherlands, France, England - camping with all modern comforts, is having massive growth in Europe. In the United States, tepee, yurt, tree house and safari tent experiences are in demand from urban tribes seeking naturebased nights under canvas - with inside bathrooms, "interior zones", fabulous lighting and comfortable beds. It's a long way from the humble tents and [...]

Sleeping under canvas

To me, sleeping under canvas is sleeping in harmony with all the elements of nature, giving you the ultimate feeling of freedom and well being. My first real glamping experience was in Portugal. I was asked by the owners of five Luxury Safari Tents, to style these for them with an authentic French bath and hotel quality finishing's. I love my job :-) Once I arrived I was really excited about the idyllic spot. The campsite was completely remote with no WIFI or phone connection. We had to climb up a one kilometer hill in order to get one dash reception [...]

The future trend of glamping

The world we live in is changing quickly. People are searching for new experiences and trends. Tourism worldwide is highly dependent on these megatrends and it has to find answers to these challenges to keep up with consumer demand. How can the concept of glamping take part in these numerous global challenges? If the camping industry wants to attract the so called ‘Millenniums’ generation they will have to focus to the core values of camping but with the adjustment in needs for this market. Operate sustainable, emphasize on socializing, exploring the outdoors and tap in to the needs of the [...]

Interview Flevopost + personal update

After a year of preparation we were finally ready to take off on our big journey. We sold our family home, packed our furniture and organized a farewell party at our favourite local pub. On our final day in The Netherlands the local TV station interviewed us and our business partner Luxe Tenten about our immigration to Australia, which makes a great keepsake for our friends and family to look back on in the future. After a 12 hour flight, 2 days in Singapore and another 7 hour flight, we finally arrived in Melbourne. The first week we had a lot of appointments, and we had to arrange everything for [...]

When did people start to “Glamp”?

In history, tents have been used as shelter by native Americans, militaries on the move, and nomadic people. In the early societies, particularly nomadic people, set up tents which matched their lifestyle and environments. But when did people start to Glamp? History of Glamping The claim to the true history of glamping is not totally clear. During the 16th and 17th century, at the peak of the Turkish empire, the Ottomans set up luxury and extravagant Bedouin tent cities for their Sultans. These tents were decorated with expensive rugs, furniture, sedari’s (lounge couch), chandeliers and silk fabrics. They didn’t use [...]
