The smart infrastructure decision most new Glamping sites miss

When planning a glamping site, most people naturally focus on the accommodation first. But one of the biggest cost drivers often sits behind the scenes: infrastructure.

We regularly see projects where every tent is designed with its own private ensuite and kitchen. While that works very well for one or two luxury units, it can quickly push costs up when you start planning multiple tents on the same site.

For operators looking for a more cost effective alternative, it’s worth considering a different approach early in the planning phase.

This is where we often suggest a Glamtainer Amenity Block as a smart solution.

When you have 5, 10 or even 15 tents on site, providing private ensuite bathrooms and kitchens in every tent can become expensive. Each structure requires its own plumbing, drainage, water supply and electrical connection. By centralising these services in one location, you can often reduce the number of connections required and simplify the overall setup.

A central Glamtainer:

  • Keeps infrastructure streamlined
  • Lower installation costs compared to multiple private bathrooms
  • Easier cleaning and servicing for staff

A model that works

One layout we often recommend is:

Multiple Woody Junior tents
+
One central Glamtainer Amenity Block with ensuite bathrooms and a communal hub (kitchen / bar area)

This setup keeps the initial investment manageable, allows you to scale accommodation over time, and centralises your services.

Operationally it’s simpler.
Financially it’s often smarter.
And for guests, it still feels thoughtful and high quality.

Flexible for temporary or leased sites

Another advantage of using a shipping container conversion as an amenity block is flexibility.

If your site is located in a leased holiday park, the container can be relocated if required. This makes it a practical solution for operators who want to test a concept or operate on land where permanent construction may not be ideal.

Should the project move or expand to another property, the amenity block can simply be transported and installed at the new location.
